Painingal recovers to march into third round
Mahshook Painingal from Pool & Snook, Mazagaon struck top form when it mattered most and that helped him to recover from a 1-2 deficit to prevail over NSCI's Jigish Choksi by a fighting 3-2 scoreline to confirm his passage to the third round of the BSAM Snooker Grassroot Challenger 2023 (Leg-1).
The Kerala-born Painingal who practices at the pool parlour at Mazagaon started brightly by winning the first frame. But, Painingal was unable to maintain his concentration and lost the next two.
However, he regained his composure at the opportune moment to comfortably win the fourth frame. He then played steadily to take the fifth as well to secure a 63-28, 12-57, 37-54, 65-7 and 55-36 frame scores victory.
