Garware Club House cueist Chirag Mehta (+40 handicap) played with tremendous willpower and knocked out Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana's higher ranked player Aakash Ramteke (+30) grinding out a 3-0 first round win in the BSAM Snooker Grassroot Challenger (Leg-2) 2023, at the GCH billiards room on Tuesday.
Mehta played freely and constructed a timely break of 40 points in winning the first frame. He then made a stunning long black pot to narrowly win the second. Having gained confidence, Mehta maintained the winning moment to seal his upset win over the seasoned Ramteke by taking the third frame as well to clinch a 115(40)-85, 96-94 and 94-63 win.
