Mulund Gymkhana’s Dhawal Karia, celebrating his birthday on Sunday, enjoyed a successful, rewarding day as he had the distinction of producing the best effort, a well-compiled break of 37 on the opening day on the BSAM Snooker Grassroot Challenge 2023-2024.
The Birthday Boy went on to defeat Vishal Mehta of Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana in three straight frames at the Malabar Hill Club's billiards room on Sunday morning.
Karia pocketed the first frame on the colours and then constructed the run of 37 points to extend his lead to 2-0. With no signs of a fightback from Mehta, the Mulund cueist won the third as well to seal a 48-5, 71(37)-40, 53-24 victory.
