GCH cueists on a roll; Pramod Shah fires half century break

Garware Club House cueists Pramod Shah and Darshak Jhaveri recorded contrasting victories in first round matches on Monday afternoon.
Shah showed excellent touch and played quite consistently and stole the thunder with a composed break of 50 points during his victory against the left-handed Khushal Galaiya (MCF) by a straight-frame 3-0.
Shah won the first frame comfortably and then uncorked the half century effort to take a 2-0 lead. Galaiya put up an improved performance in the third but could not stop Shah from winning third on the black to seal a 71-43, 90-0 and 55-51 verdict.
In contrast, Darshak showed tremendous fighting spirit as he recovered to overcome Gaurav Vithlani (Nerul) in five engrossing frames at 3-2 (58-18, 46-57, 37-49, 49-40 and 69-34) frame scores.
