Experienced Panchal and Shroff lead Malabar, 'Matka Kings', NSCI 'Seniors' into last eight Sarang Shroff

Mumbai: Experienced cueists, Manav Panchal and Sarang Shroff, were both in prime form and produced match-winning performances which ensured Malabar ‘Matka Kings’ (Malabar Hill Club) and NSCI ‘Seniors’ (National Sports Club of India) earn their berths in the quarter-final round of the Otters Club-Mumbai Snooker League (MSL) – 2017, conducted by the Billiards and Snooker Association of Maharashtra (BSAM).
In round of 16 matches, Malabar Hill Club powered by the brilliant face-saving twin wins from Panchal recovered from a 0-2 deficit to turn things around against DPCG (Kamakazee’s’ (Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana) and snatch a satisfying 3-2 victory at the Otters Club, Bandra, late on Wednesday evening. Panchal was the obvious choice to win the ‘Player of the Match’ award.
On the side table, seasoned player Shroff produced the class of yesteryears and showed that he has not lost the fighting spirit. Shroff won both his frames, including the decider, which helped NSCI Seniors clinch a 3-2 win against JVPG ‘Jugglers’ (Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana) in a tense and exciting match. Shroff was named winner of the ‘Player of the Match’ award.
In the third match which also went the distance, KG ‘Pocket Rockets’ defeated JVPG ‘Jugglers’ 3-2 to progress to the quarter-finals. Sagar Kanjani of KG Pocket Rockets won the ‘Player of the Match’ award.
