MCF, Khar Gym march into semis

Mumbai: MCF ‘Tough Men’ (Mandpeshwar Civic Federation) and KG ‘Four & Half Men’ (Khar Gymkhana), both comfortably won their respective quarter-final round matches of the BSAM-The Chembur Gymkhana Billiards League 2017, and played at The Chembur Gymkhana billiards hall, late on Tuesday evening.
Producing a superb combined performance, MCF 'Tough men' playing with a +55 handicap, faced little difficulty in defeating PCL 'Beach Boys' (Park Club) who had started with a handicap of +140, by a massive 491-294 margin of points to advance to the semi-finals.
In another quarter-final encounter, KG 'Four & Half Men' (+30 handicap) were on a roll and easily beat MCF 'Dark Knights' (+215) by a 630-536 scoreline.
Sparsh Pherwani (+40) set the tone for Khar Gym’s win by defeating Dharmesh Mistry (+75) 200-101 in the opening frame and later Kreishh Gurbaxani (+50) maintained the winning momentum as he outplayed Amit Joshi (+80) 200-138. In the third frame, experienced Rishabh Thakkar (-60) tamed Avenish Shah (+60) 200-82 to complete the victory and seal Khar Gym’s passage to the penultimate round.
Meanwhile, MCF ‘Tough Men’, having finished runners-up in the last two editions, are one step away from making their third successive appearance in the final. Rohan Jambusaria (-40) once again played the key role by constructing two substantial breaks of 68 and 41 and went on to defeat Amit Sapru (+30) 200-35 in the second frame. Earlier, Mehul Sutaria (+65) sidelined Vishal Gehani (+35) 200-116 in the first frame. In the third frame, MCF’s Chandu Kansodaria (+30) had an easy target of scoring just 36 points against Lalit Jham (+75) and he did it in style cruising to a 36-3 win.
